Initial game concept
In preparation for the PiCoSteveMo jam, I was tossing around some hastily-scribbled concept art for a game based on King’s 1985 novella Dolan’s Cadillac. In the story, a woman is murdered by a crime lord (Dolan) to prevent her from testifying against him, and her husband plots his elaborate revenge.
The game would take place during the climax of the novel, where the protagonist prepares to trap Dolan in his near-impervious Cadillac by digging a pit in a stretch of highway between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Dolan’s car falls into the covered pit, which is just large enough that the car is completely underground, but not wide enough that the car can manuever, or for the occupants to open the doors and escape.
The protagonist re-fills the pit with dirt and paves over the pit, buring Dolan alive in his car.
I passed these gorgeously-rendered images over to Donald to see if he was interested in participating, and he replied almost immediately with a preliminary animation of our hero.
