Stand Elsewhere
Stand Elsewhere re-imagines the Stephen King movie "Stand by Me" Stephen King's short story "The Body" as an adventure on the Oregon trail.
Set out from Castle Rock on your mission to become local celebrities. Will you find the body of Ray Brower, the missing boy?
- A blend of choice-based interactive fiction and reflex-testing action sequences.
- Tell stories around the campfire, try to keep Teddy from doing something stupid, and find out whether you can outrun a locomotive.
- “Endless Hike” mode: Enjoy the scenery and groove to 50’s and 60’s chiptune hits.
Yes, this game has leeches. It also has dogs — find out whether you can pet them!
But don't take our word for it. Here's Wil Wheaton from the original movie:
Okay, maybe don't take Wil Wheaton's word for it, either. Just play the game.

This is a port of STAND BY ME at Pico-8! It was very interesting!
The scene of walking on the train tracks while listening to the radio, combined with the Pico-8 arranged music from the 5,60's, was a great atmosphere.
The numerous events and mini-games were also very good!
This is a good game experience, meow~! 🛤️🐈️🐈️🐈️🐈️
This is SO much fun! Loved the way you matched the story beats with gameplay, and the easter eggs/references are terrific!
This was a lot of fun!! Looking forward to seeing what you all cook up for PiCoSteveMo 3 ahaha!
Fantastic work! Canonically correct and wonderful pixel-art and music.
Stephen King and Rob Reiner would be proud.
